Frank Turner

A rare return to Southampton for this much loved Artist. As one of the Album Launch Outstore Events, Frank was on Stage for two shows in one evening.

The venue has a sound system that would be the envy of much larger music spaces. The light show was also put some venues with three times the capacity to shame!
I, and the audience we in a two tier area that allowed everyone a great view of the stage and made everyone of the hundreds of people feel part of something special.

Frank didn’t disappoint. He and one other musician took to the stage for the first of the two shows and the crowd were in the palm of his hand from the start.

Having seen Frank play in the past, I was expecting a slightly less energetic performance from ones I’ve seen before. Not a chance!

His energy and enthusiasm was undiminished whether playing to 500 or 10,000. A natural on the stage.

He was clearly relishing his time with this up-close-and-personal crowd. Smiles all round and lots of audience interaction, a true professional at work.

Franks stage-banter was on form too. Being close enough to have short conversations with the audience and even taking a couple of requests meant that everyone felt part of the show. He even took time to get the house lights turned up so he could see and speak with the balcony audience.
His skill as an entertainer is undiminished. If you get the chance to see Frank perform, I would suggest taking it. His music is varied and energetic and he remains a crowd pleaser.
